Scottie Martin and I discuss fishing apps, the new Fish Health Tracker tool, and whether the sentence of two poachers was sufficient.
Since 2012 Blue Fish Canada is dedicated to the conservation, protection, and restoration of Canada’s freshwater and saltwater environments and their wild fish stocks. It aims to document and promote Canada’s fishing heritage and sustainable fishing practices, ensuring that future generations of Canadians have access to healthy freshwater and marine fisheries.
Blue Fish Canada, a registered charity dedicated to the future of fish and fishing, has program objectives that include:
Fish health may be the least understood and most difficult to assess research challenges. Assessing water quality is relatively simple in comparison, but water quality alone isn’t a measure of fish health. Time and resources are required to locate and capture fish in numbers that adequately represent the aquatic or marine ecosystem as a whole, not an easy task when fish move about and are largely invisible to the human eye.
